My only complaint was that it felt pretty 'padded out' with a lot on the history of poker, detailed descriptions of poker variants that I had no interest in, and other bits and bobs of theoretical usefulness - but probably only practicably useful once in a blue moon.

I wouldn't get Poker for Dummies again, as there are so many better poker books out there. The book is over 16 years old, so many of the poker website recommendations are out of date.

Another issue--The hand recommendations in the Texas Hold'em section are far too loose, among other things. If you're looking for a more useful poker book, just click on my reviews--I've got about poker books I would recommend over this one.

Sound information for a novice, but sometimes it goes a bit too far. The advice on how to spot "tells" isn't going to help anyone, for example.

One person found this helpful. Did not cover enough games and what it covered it covered in too much depth for a starters guide.

Also, I ordered the book new and it came used, all underline and note all over the page. Great product and service. I'm learning a lot and it's easy I'm learning a lot and it's easy to understand.

If you have only one card to come, you can multiply your outs by two to reach an estimated percentage. Good odds simply means that the odds you have to call are better than the odds of making your hand.

So you can win with any of these nine spades. Pocket aces are a solid hand that give you a good chance to win every hand that you enter into.
